Baby clothes FAQs

What are the most important components to a baby apparel layette?

A layette for a newborn usually combines both baby apparel and accessories. All the items suggested are usually good starting points for parents and gift givers, but many times regional climates, and the season in which an infant in born, will dictate additional items. The most important items to have on hand before bringing an infant home are: a “coming home” outfit, sleepwear, onesies and t-shirts, receiving and swaddling blankets, bath time towels and wash cloths, hats and booties, and burp cloths.

Does my newborn really need shoes?

Although it is not essential that new parents invest in baby shoes, they can offer protection from the elements, and good temperature control for infants. Once a baby begins to crawl, stand and even walk, it becomes necessary that parents and caregivers purchase flexible soled shoes to keep feet clean and safe.

With so many baby bags on the market, how do I make the most appropriate purchase?

Purchasing baby and diaper bags can be challenging, but the plethora of options actually makes it easier to find a bag that fits any individual’s specific needs. Parents and caregivers should think about the range of travel conditions and outings they will need to be prepared for, make lists of the most common items used for their infant, and then find a bag that accommodates both. With so many styles and brands to choose from, searching online will save both time and money.
